I am back! Well, somewhat, I am still traveling, constantly on the road, so internet is hard to come by, but at least I’ve started to style hunt again.

A little recap, I’ve just spent the last month in France, the first 2 weeks on an organic farm with no electricity and hot water, eating vegetarian only. It was very idyllic, a bit of hard work and a strange existence in the middle of the mountains surrounded by nature, my hosts have 4 lovely/crying/screaming children. To top it all off I had the worst hayfever, it felt like I was allergic to everything, the trees, the flowers, the cats, even dosed on Zrytec I’d spend the first 2 hours of everyday blowing my nose constantly. Perhaps I got used to the polluted London and my system decided to reject such pure nature.

I feel like I really need to explain that, drinking water straight from the mountain everyday, eating only organic vegetarian and fruits of my labour, vanity and style was the last thing I cared about. So it has been a slow process starting to hunt street style again, but alas, I was in Paris!

So Parisiennes, now they are a different brew. Classic, simple and always always always stylish. It made me cringe with my peasantness and the clothes in my backpack for 2 months.

So going from pulling out weeds with my bare hands, I went on to meet and snap these lovely and stylish Parisiennes and that has been France for me. I feel like the week I had in Paris was not enough at all, I would like to return and explore more, well I am sure I will be back.

A bientôt Paris!

Fur & lace - Brick Lane

Brick Lane again you say? No no, of course I just happen to pass by on Sunday and of course there a few just happen to catch my eye… Yeah sure. The girl said her outfit is from the party she went to the night before, but she looked right at home in Brick Lane.

London has had some stunning weather lately! Sunny, lovely, even hot in the afternoon, I do wonder why people complain about the weather here, its’s perfect, as long as you don’t go into the tube at peak hour.

This heat means girls are dressed more skimpy, comfortable and relaxed. And what’s more relaxed than a loose white top on a hot summer day, gorgeous!

So dig out that white tshirt of yours, pull it over yourself and head out to enjoy the sun while it lasts. Oh wait, do put on a skirt or a pair of trousers. I am quite against the no pants look :p

Today, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I take you to a very different world, but it is still in London! A world where I only get glimpses of, today you get a few glimpses too. Knightsbridge is one of the most expensive places in London, according to Wikipedia, 14 out of the 200 most expensive streets in Britain are in Knightsbridge. On street car parking spaces sell for £300,000 on a 94 year lease… Notable residents include: Nigella Lawson, Tom Ford, Hugh Grant, Sean Connery alongside many other aristocrats, royalties, socialites, writers, presenters and models. You get the idea.

There’s a strip of high fashion shops here, Chanel, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, you name it, you got it. And it was here that I did a little bit of street style hunting.

Maria told me she was a model in the 50s, the height of the House of Chanel, dare I say, a time when sportswear isn’t what it is today. Maria has such elegance and grace, I’d love to have a head of silver hair like hers when I’m old.

An almost all black outfit which makes all the textures stand out, the bright pop of the red Hermes bag is very nice arm candy.

Now last but not least…

I hope you all have a good Monday, well, I hope!

A few shots around town

I had an interview this afternoon near Piccadilly Circus, the role I interviewed for is somewhat up in the air but they are getting me in for a different project which is around a few days of work next week, I am poor so I’ll be very happy to see a few pounds in the bank account. So to celebrate, I went to Laduree! Hehehe, I’d walked past it last time and been itching to make up any excuse to go, getting a little job and being nearby was enough excuse for me.

I had some darjeeling tea and 3 mini macarons, lemon, pistachio and caramel with superfine salt. They were all yummy, had surprisingly thick creme fillings, my favourite is a tie between the caramel and the lemon. The lemon had just the right amount of sourness, the caramel one, well I had to get it, since it’s got superfine salt! I’ll be back to try all the flavours.

A few shots around town

As I walked around I spotted the seemingly Chanel branded lamp posts. After a little googling, apparently this is the story. Coco Chanel had an affair with the Duke of Westminster, he was so in love with her, he branded the whole city with Chanel logos in an attempt to win her over. With no avail, unfortunately, but we are left with Chanel lamp posts!

Now a few candid snaps around town.

A few shots around town

A little too much beige for my liking but an elegant outfit nonetheless, love the wicker basket on her bike.

A few shots around town

Checkered suit and terracotta suit. Men here dress so much better than in Sydney, all their suits actually fit, unlike in Sydney where most suits are 2 sizes too big. Here their shirts match, their ties thought about, their shoes chic and shined. Awesome, so English, so dapper.

A few shots around town

Over sized man bag, it’s Nike if you must know. This guy walked with such confidence it felt like he must own all of Piccadilly. Actually around there, men all dress so well, most suits look tailored, old money, heritage.

This might be news to some of you, but I am in London and I will be here for 6 months, then New York for 3 months and then back home to Sydney. So xssat will be bringing you the latest street styles from all around Europe for the next few months!

Britannia - Brick Lane

Britannia - Brick Lane

Yesterday was my first day in London, I knew I should try to stay up for most of the day and adjust my body clock so I went down to Brick Lane market. What a mish mash of characters and it was teeming with young people all dressed to be seen.

Britannia - Brick Lane

What I saw, I thought were all quintessentially British. From the classic coat reinterpreted by this guy above, all the elements of the outfit are very retro, the ray bans, the white sneakers and the pants, but together the look is utterly modern and very British.

Look at the girl above, her Madonna-esque outfit is fantastic, she reminds me so much of Vivienne Westwood. That essence of rebellious British youth expressed through fashion.
