Do you see a pattern here? I’m intrigued about this hair style, I’m not too sure how I feel about it, whether I like it or not, though these young men are rocking it! One thing is for sure, the top mop definitely caught my eye.

I’ve been back in Sydney for just over a week now and what have I done? Nothing :p That’s what heat does to you, it makes you lazy, well, that’s my excuse anyway. I’ve caught up with family and friends, caught up on all the new restaurants and shops that opened up while I was away. I’ve missed the Sydney vibe and you know what I’m almost surprised at how stylish and hip Sydney-siders are! How quickly one forgets. I’m surprised to see the amazingly bad fashion in department stores and the amazingly good fashion in small boutiques. The distance of Australia from the rest of the world serves both as an advantage and disadvantage. On one hand we get trends a few seasons late or they don’t come to our shores at all, on the other hand our laid back lifestyle and the lack of trends create something completely unique. I am so happy to see the smaller and the budding Australian labels doing their own things and doing it so well.

I’m glad to see vintage is still big but not done in obvious ways, I don’t see girls wearing grandma dresses for the sake of wearing vintage anymore. Let’s be honest, not many girls can pull off a vintage sack…

I took a walk around Surry Hills today and a few quick snaps. Summer it makes you dress lazy but lazy doesn’t have to be boring.

I used to be completely against denim on demin, as in a denim jacket with jeans, on girls or guys. However I think I’ve changed my mind, I think when it’s done well it can be a great look. And today, I got two looks that double up on denim and I got to say both look great.

I’ve recently become a huge fan of denim shirt with jeans (see second photo), so I’ve been scouting the perfect denim shirt, but I simply can’t bear the idea of paying over $50 for a new one when I know I can find a nice worn in second hand one. Well guess I got some scouting to do then.

Happy hunting, happy summer!

Have you been noticing the surge of red trousers or jeans in London and especially on guys? Well I certainly have and here’s a little collection of them :)

I promise I’ll write more next time but I’ve been feeling a bit worn out lately and need to take it easy, which will come very very soon. So bear with me beautiful boys and girls and I’ll write proper very soon.

Oh, I’m getting a haircut tomorrow, wish me luck!

Fur & lace - Brick Lane

Fur & lace - Brick Lane

Brick Lane again you say? No no, of course I just happen to pass by on Sunday and of course there a few just happen to catch my eye… Yeah sure. The girl said her outfit is from the party she went to the night before, but she looked right at home in Brick Lane.

So I found myself walking around Soho in circles again, my internal compass is none existent, I’m getting better though, as I walked around I vaguely knew in which direction is Oxford Circus, which way is Piccadilly, might not sound like much but let me tell you it’s a huge improvement from a few weeks ago. Soho is just fascinating, I keep getting drawn back into it, well Princi helps, but other than delicious cakes, Soho is a great place.

You know, there are boys and then there are men. The boys, they are fast paced, sometimes loud, always after the latest thing. The men, they are quietly confident, they don’t follow trends, they know what works for them. These men, you spot them from a mile away and today I bring you 2 great examples.

Occupation: Fashion designer, boutique owner
Describe your style: Fabulous monster
Favourite fashion label: Lanvin, Dior, Balenciaga
Favourite clothing store: Dover St Market

Stavros designs for and runs Digitaria, I walked past the store and was so intrigued by the clothes in the window I had to go in and have a look. The clothes are fantastic! The prices are very reasonable too, which surprised me, given these pieces are so unique, you’ll never run into someone else wearing the same thing. Stavros himself is of course dressed impeccably wearing all Digitaria pieces. They also have a little gallery downstairs, which is where these shots were taken.

Name: Fabian
Occupation: Commercial producer
Describe your style: Kind of conservative, retro with a little smile.
Favourite fashion label: Junya Watanabe
Favourite clothing store: None

I saw Fabian’s jacket from across the road and I just had to ask him for a photo, or a few… Fabian mentioned it’s a Watanabe design, when I got home I did a little googling, so it’s from the Fall/Winter 2008 Junya Watanabe for Commes des Garcon collection, it’s his version of the varsity jacket. Clearly it’s a lot more dressed up than a varsity jacket, it remains a blazer, yet so much more sporty without looking casual. Sorry I don’t think you can see clearly from the photos, but the bodice of the jacket is wool, while the sleeves are leather, giving a nice contrast that makes you pause for a moment.

Dress up, dress down, dress well gentlemen.
